History

Founded by President and CEO Nelson Ferreira as a trucking company in 1988

Nelson was introduced to the construction profession at an early age. This introduction inspired Nelson to work in the construction industry. As he grew and learned the industry, he developed a passion for the trade.  So, following high school he entered the industry as a full-time laborer. He began to save, knowing that he might want to start a business venture of his own. His dream became a reality when, with money he had saved, he purchased a Mack tandem. This marked the genesis of Ferreira Trucking Company, an ambitious goal for any 19 year old.  It paid off: Between the start of Ferreira Trucking Company in 1988 and the acquisition of additional 18 tandems and staff in 1995 the transition from Ferreira Trucking to Construction was underway. The company's first major project was a $300,000 timber bridge in Somerset County, NJ

Since the successful completion of that first project, Ferreira Construction has grown, adapted to industry needs, and acquired the equipment necessary to emerge as a proven leader in the civil infrastructure and heavy construction industry.

Nelson's extraordinary vision, industry insight, and unparalleled work ethic has catapulted Ferreira Construction to a sound, structured organization with a highly specialized professional staff and labor workforce. Today, the company has over 300 pieces of machinery and a 42,000 square foot corporate headquarters complete with its own shop facility in Branchburg, New Jersey. The location enables Ferreira to efficiently and effectively serve the tri-state area.
